I really wanted to give this game 5 stars however some of my family members found it to repetitive. Hotel Transylvania is a fun game for the preteen and early teen to play and us adults that don't have loads of time to learn a game and love simple easy to learn games. I found the graphics to be very good and the game itself is very easy to learn. Anyone can pretty much just sit down and play this right out of the box. It is a standard right and left game much like Mario or Donkey Kong and I have no problems with these games, in fact they are my favorite types of platforms. I find them fun and engaging however others might consider this a negative.The game features Mavis as she travels around the hotel performing tasks for her father, Count Dracula, and other relatives and hotel visitors. Hotel Transylvania is rated for 10+ but I would say that anyone 8 or older could play this game. The mild violence in the game is just that, very cartoon like and nothing graphic. If not for the repetitive nature of the game, this would be a great game to play due to the great graphics and ease of play. My family and I gave this game a 4 star review.

I love video games. I grew up on NES and N64 and I will murder anyone in Golden Eye on planet earth. That being said it still took me over 5 hours to beat this game. Its perfect for kids as it starts off pretty easy. graphics are great. 3D is cool. music rocks. gameplay is smooth. i was really surprised at this game just figuring its another movie game so it sucks. thats not the case at all. my 7 year old girl plays this all the time and shes 71% through the game. follows the movie to a T which is strange. i would recomend this to any boy or girl 6-12 kids older than that are going to look at it like a kids game, because it is. hope that helps.

About the visuals, this game is a bitmap graphics game; even though this is a sidescroller and you probably won't expect graphics with too much depth, you won't find 3D as in some other sidescrollers intended for the 3ds (Rabbids in time), instead you will find bitmaps in different depth layers. At first it does not show too much, but as you progress and get into rooms, you probably will find this is enough. The pictures are nice and in general, you will see it as simple, but pretty. At the end it feels like a Super Nintendo game, with a certain feeling of depth.About the game itself, you are required to move trough many rooms in the scenery; at first you may get frustrated trying to achieve the precise jump or whatever that will let you reach that life point in the corner; don't worry, you are not intended to reach it yet. As you progress in the game, you will unlock powers that will let you reach more places, and you can always go back to the rooms you have already visited.Now the ugly part: the game has bugs. Things like, when you are in a certain state, you tell it to perform an action; sometimes it does, some times id does not, and sometimes it performs the action in a different way. Even tough not all actions are as critical as this one, when you press the 'jump' button, there are times when it does not jump; instead, if shoots the freezing look.. umm.. no, I may have pressed the wrong button.. I'll pay more attention the next time.. nope, you did press the jump button and it shot the freeze look instead of jumping, it was not you, is a bug in the program. Also, things like.. remember above about achieving the precise jump? At the beginning of the game there are some things intended to taint you; things like, yeah, try to jump here, where you are not supposed to jump; nonetheless, there are parts of the page where you can hardly progress with what you already have; now, you have to achieve the perfect jump, and try to guess the reaction, that even tough you seem to keep doing the same, sometimes it jumps upwards, sometimes it just detaches itself from the wall.. or things like the switch to open a door: are you aware of the times when you try to unlock a car with the remote, but if you are already holding the door handle, the lock will not go off? these situations happen in this game also. There are doors that open with switches, and keep open with a timer. Once the time has passed, the door closes again and the switch is released so you can open it again.. try to step on the switch while the door has not closed to see what happens.This is a sidescroller, and as part of the gameplay of most sidescrollers, you have to step on surfaces that float. The expected reaction is that when you are standing in a floating platform that moves, if you have to shoot, you shoot and you remain on the platform. In this case, when you shoot while standing on a hovering platform, you shoot, and while you shoot, you freeze in space, while the platform keeps moving; the result: after the shot, you unfreeze, but there is no platform below, so you plummet to your doom. This looks more like an attempt of a group of teenagers trying to develop their first game, making rookie mistakes, instead of a game sold by a big company; things like that become frustrating.Also, the game is kinda short, but in this case this is not really a bad thing. Along the game you have to visit and review the same rooms over and over again (the rooms are large and different from each other, in general, and you get to discover new areas as you progress and unlock powers); if the game was longer, it would become very monotonous; specially when you have to visit a room you found frustrating the first time.
