5Great so far
By Ren Leo
(I didn't buy from this seller, so I can't speak for their handling/ shipping, ECT)Alright, I'm going to explain what I can, while being as discrete as possible so I don't reveal too much!Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, is about a human (main character) that (somehow) turns into a Pokemon (among Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig, Pikachu, and Axew), and is transported to a world where no humans exist! From there, the main hero must find out the reasons behind their transformation, the voice that guided them to the portal, and the strange dream that beckons them to save a certain Pokemon named Munna. For those unfamiliar with the Mystery Dungeon series, it isn't like the main RPG collection, where you play as a Pokemon trainer and try to become "the-best-that no-one-every-was," rather, you're a Pokemon itself, and play through the game completing "Mystery dungeons," which are magical labyrinths, promising treasure upon beating them. However, Mystery Dungeons are dangerous places, full of merciless Pokemon who want nothing more than to destroy you!Sometimes you'll even run into a "boss," a strong Pokemon in the recesses of a dungeon who will try to prevent you from completing your mission. This is a turn based game, where when you run into a foe, you take turns attacking (much like in the main series), and sometimes when you win, the rivaling Pokemon will want to join your team and become friends with you! This is how you make your team bigger and stronger! Every time you move/walk, counts as an attack, so be careful of where your enemies are!Pros-fun and enlightening-Nice graphics-different take on Pokemon games-Great sound frontCons-Text speed is awfully slow (I haven't yet found out if you can edit that)- interaction scenes have more information than needed, and take a long time because of it-some tasks are completed by AI, which I'd like to complete myself.- it's a little too easy (but then again, I just started playing today!)Overall, it's a great game! I haven't got very far, but it's entertaining!::EDIT::I'm a little more awake now, so I thought'd I'd add some more info. For those of you who've played previous games in this series, this one seems a bit dull to me. It's not bad, just a little dumbed down (babyish), as compared to the other games, but I can't hold it against the Pokemon Team, because this is their first 3D game, and they were probably more interested in perfecting the graphics.

4Pretty good, but there are some glaring flaws in it's design.
By Alexander
Being a fan of the Mystery Dungeon series, I couldn't wait to pick up this game. I'm not terribly far into it, but so far it seems pretty good. However, there are a lot of strange design decisions that were made that I can't quite understand. First, here are my gripes with the game.Enemy Evolution, aka Super Saiyan mode: Enemies can know evolve upon defeating any non-partner Pokemon on your team. One would think that upon evolving the enemy would become stronger. Yes, they do. My goodness do they get stronger. They might as well rename it from "evolution" to "Super Saiyan mode" because in the early stages of the game, enemy evolution = you die. I'm not even sure how this made it past development, but basically, when an enemy evolves, it becomes invincible. Literally. My attacks all returned the message "Mandibuzz took no damage!" All of my teammates were whaling on this thing with boosted attack, and it did nothing. Then it laughed, one-shotted us and drank our tears as nourishment. Perhaps this is only the case in the early levels, but having an enemy essentially become God during the middle of an adventure is enough to make you rage-quit harder than monster houses in Mystery Dungeon: Blue. One mission at a time, please: This is just a weird decision. You can only partake in one mission at a time. In previous installments, you could accept multiple missions in the same dungeon and complete them all in one adventure. Not the case in this game, which can make gathering items/materials feel needlessly grindy and long.SUPER SLOW TEXT: This is my biggest issue. The text goes by so slowly that even grandma would be shouting "Hurry up!" at the screen, and there's NO WAY to skip it. You're forced to watch the text crawl by the screen until its done, and some conversations are needlessly drawn out. I looked in the options and there does not seem to be any option to change it. This is just a huge oversight IMHO, and it get's really annoying really fast. Those are my biggest problems I've experienced so far. They're needlessly annoying, and I wonder why they were even put in. Aside from those issues though, fans of the series can expect more of the same dungeon-crawling adventures like the previous series. There have been some improvements too, such as...Shared EXP: EXP points are now shared across the entire group, not just the teammates traveling with you. So even if you never take a Pokemon with you, he'll still level up with the group. This helps alleviate the issues of previous games where you had to baby-sit the weaker teammates until they were strong enough.Facilities!: You can now pick-and-choose certain facilities to be built on your property, such as berry farms, seed farms, and training dojos. You gather materials from completing requests and use them to clear land and build facilities on that land. Furthermore, you can choose which facilities you want in whatever order you want, just as long as you have the materials and the money.Awesome graphics: I know graphics aren't really a big deal, but the graphics in this game are gorgeous for a hand-held system. The locales are all bright, colorful, and bursting with life. Definitely a HUGE improvement over previous games. The 3D, should you use it, makes the experience even better, adding a bit of depth to the scenery and characters in it.Pick your pokemon: No personality test this time around. You just straight-up pick who you want to be. Only downside is that there are only 5 pokemon to choose from (compared to the 15+ choices of previous games.) Your choice is limited to the Unova Starters (Snivy, Oshawatt, and Tepig) Pikachu, or Axew.Overall, I'd give it four stars. I'd give it five, but the flaws I mentioned earlier prevent this game from standing apart. They just seems like major oversights, especially since these problems weren't in the previous games. If you're a fan of the Mystery Dungeon series, you'll most likely enjoy this one too. If you're not a fan or are just looking for a casual game to pass the time, this may not be the game for you; definitely consider renting before buying.

3A bit disappointing
By Robert Goldsmith
I have to say, I was rather looking forward to this game when it was first being talked about. However, while there are some things that this game does better than its predecessors, there are a greater number of things that make it a worse game than the Explorers series.First the Pros:~No more quizes to determine who you play as. Now you can just pick who you want out of the starters.~Beautiful Graphics~Good storyline~The ability to improve on your attacks in power, accuracy and PP based on usage and training~TMs are reusable~You can build your Paradise~The ability to 'pause' the main story and play as a team made up of Pokemon that are not on your main team~All members of your Team (not just the four that make up your party) level up so that no Pokemon is left weakAnd now for the cons:~Only 144 Pokemon that can join your Team, and the vast bulk of those are Gen V~Only 5 Choosable Pokemon to pick as yourself and your partner~All starting Pokemon (You and your partner) are all male. You are unable to choose your own gender or that or your partner~Boss AI is not all that bright (though for some that could be a good thing)~Not much after story following the main storyline~Main storyline is rather short (Beat it in less than 40 hours)~You have to pay for new dungeons via DLC, about $2 per new dungeon~So far, there seems to be a vast lack of evolution items. Also, while your other party members are able to evolve, you and your partner cannot until after the main story, and no logical reason or explanation is given. All in all, if you're looking for a quality PMD game, I highly recommend PMD: Explorers of Sky. This game is fun, don't get me wrong, but for long-time fans of the series, this latest game is a letdown. However, those who have never played a PMD game will find this enjoyable and a good way to get into the series.
