Well since this is the only item out right now as a grip for the Nintendo 3DS, didn't have a choice in the purchase if I wanted to protect the outer part of the DS. The problem that I have with this item is that it does not snap onto the DS, but just kinda sticks to it. It slips when you are trying to play games on the 3DS. When trying to use the L or R button it moves making it difficult to use the buttons and not get frustrated with the product. If had an an option to purchase another grip I would have done so. If another one comes out that's better than this one I will be replacing it quickly. It's very thin, moves around a lot when trying to use the item. I do not recommend the purchase of this item if you do not need it. But if you want something to protect your DS this is the only good option they have available right now. The other grip that they have available is $9.99, but I purchased it for my DSI and it was a waste of the $9.99 I paid for it. This item will not sit on the black charger that comes with the Nintendo 3DS.Its very sad when they come out with new products but do not come out with any good accessories to purchase to go with them.Update:Received a new item from the manufacturer since they thought that I might have gotten an older version of this item. However, when it was received it turned out to be the exact same thing that I had. So I shipped it back. So I am still standing by my original review. This item not not perfect and does not do what it is suppose to do. Someone did not put a lot of thought into the making of this product so that it would work properly when it was put on the 3DS.

I preordered this case from Amazon and apparently received the inferior early production model mentioned in other Amazon reviews. I attempted to contact DreamGEAR support directly to see if they would address my concerns without me having to leave a poor review. I received no response from the email address listed here and on DreamGEAR's site, so here's another one-star review.See other similarly-rated reviews of this product; my concerns mirror theirs.

Don't waste your money. This thing literally hangs on the top part and the edges of the bottom get caught on everything because it is poorly fitted. Get a Nerf case I had one with my DSi XL for over a year and never had any issues because it clamps on. I also had a Berf case for the DSi I had and it was also excellent.
